Washington Post Columnist Charles Krauthammer: Israel Will Attack Iran

"On Friday`s `Special Report` on the Fox News Channel, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer doubled down on an assertion he made last week about the inevitability of an Israeli strike on Iran to limit the Islamic republic`s nuclear capabilities.

`Unless something intervenes,` Krauthammer replied. `I cannot imagine the Israelis are going to allow Iran to go nuclear and to hold the Damocles sword over 6 million Jews all over again. Israel was established to prevent a second Holocaust, not to invite one.`" DailyCaller.Com

If any of the Arab nations that surround Israel had nuclear weapons, and if Israel didn`t have any, is there a single person who believes that the state of Israel wouldn`t have disappeared in a mushroom cloud?

Israel has possessed nuclear bombs for decades, but the Jewish nation hasn`t wiped out her foes. The democratic state of Israel seeks peace with her enemies, not their destruction.

Charles Krauthammer is correct in his analysis, Israel has no other option than to strike Iran`s nuclear installations, the Muslim theocracy poses a present and existential threat to the only democracy in the Middle East.

But if Israel attacks Iran`s nuclear facilities with conventional weapons it will be an exercise in futility, it would only set back Iran`s nuclear weapons program for one or two years at the most.

Tactical nuclear weapons wouldn`t result in the death of thousands of civilians, they would be used to target nuclear facilities not to cause mass casualties. The locations of Iran`s nuclear programs aren`t in heavily populated areas, the death of civilians would be minimal.

If Israel and America fail to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and other nations in the volatile region will soon follow suit. If Israel drops a couple of tactical nuclear weapons on Iran`s nuclear facilities now it will prevent a nuclear conflagration later.

The survival of Israel, our only reliable ally in the region, is at stake, and our friend must take whatever steps are necessary to make sure there isn`t another holocaust.

It would be poetic justice if Iran`s nuclear weapons program was rendered null and void by a couple of strategic nuclear bombs. It`s insanity to delay Iran`s nuclear ambitions for only a couple of years, Israel should make sure that it will be centuries before anyone can even set foot where Iran`s nuclear installations now stand.

For good measure Israel should target the mullahs who live in Iran`s Holy city of Qom. The insane idea to destroy Israel springs from the fanatic mullahs in Qom, Israel should cut off the head of the serpent.

Of course Israel should also attack Iran`s military facilities (with conventional weapons) -- no half measures. Iran poses an existential threat to Israel and America. Iran may not possess an intercontinental missile that can reach the United States, but they can certainly fire one from a ship off our coast

Iran is also a threat to the Sunni Arab nations in the Middle East, when the Persian nation is humbled, there will be millions of relieved people in Israel, America and in Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries.
