SuVolta Named ACE Awards Finalist for Both Startup of the Year and Design Team of the Year by UBM Electronics

SuVolta, Inc., the developer of PowerShrink™ low-power CMOS technology that cuts power consumption in ICs by 50 to 90 percent, today announced it has been named a finalist in two categories of the 2012 UBM Electronics Annual Creativity in Electronics (ACE) Awards. SuVolta is a contender for the 2012 Startup of the Year Award and the Design Team of the Year Award. The awards program honors the people and companies behind the technologies and products that are changing the world of electronics.

SuVolta recently announced its Deeply Depleted Channel™ (DDC) device technology and PowerShrink™ low-power CMOS platform, which reduces IC power consumption by 50 percent or more while maintaining circuit performance. The novel DDC transistor structure enables scaling (reduction) of two of the most critical transistor parameters -- scaling of supply voltage, and scaling of transistor size to the sub-20nm node and smaller -- yet it remains compatible with existing fabrication facilities and design technologies. SuVolta's PowerShrink platform applies across a wide range of integrated circuit (IC) products, including processors, SRAMs, and SOCs that are critical to today's mobile products.

"We are honored that our technology team and the company as a whole have been recognized in this way by the ACE Awards," said Dr. Bruce McWilliams, CEO and president of SuVolta. "The nominations are further validation of the need for an easily adoptable low-power device technology for the growing power and cost-conscious mobile market."

In 2011, SuVolta was selected to EE Times' 'Silicon 60,' list that identifies emerging startups. The annual list compiled by EE Times' editors identifies the most promising startups based on a mix of criteria, including technology, intended market, maturity, financial position, investment profile and executive leadership.

"The new ACE Awards program, presented for the first time by both EE Times and EDN, provides us with an opportunity to recognize the technologies that have made a difference in the way we work, live and play over the past year. We congratulate the finalists on their innovations and leadership in the electronics industry. Additionally, we look forward to our awards ceremony in March to celebrate the innovation, creativity and contributions of the engineering community," said Junko Yoshida, Editor in Chief, EE Times, UBM Electronics.

The Startup of the Year Award is presented to a startup company in electronics manufacturing that has demonstrated the potential to become a technical or market leader in the global electronics industry.

The Design Team of the Year Award is presented to a design team whose innovations have made a significant contribution to the furtherance of technology for the electronic systems market.

The presentation of the 2012 UBM Electronics ACE Awards will take place on Tuesday, March 27, at The Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, California.
