Couple Celebrate 80th Wedding Anniversary
By Robert Paul Reyes
"A Wisconsin couple celebrating their 80th wedding anniversary agree the secret to their long marriage is that the husband 'knows who's boss.'
Roy Fleming, 100, and Dorothy Fleming, 95, marked their 80th anniversary Monday with a party in Brookfield, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Tuesday." UPI
I hope the Flemings and all two of their friends who are still alive enjoyed the party. I'm sure they partied like it was the last day of their lives.
Granddaughter Shar Flemng says that Grandpa can't see very well, and Grandma can't hear very well. I bet Grandpa lets his wife have her way, but not without some guff that she can't hear: OK, you old bat, we will watch the Golden Girls instead of the football game. Old Roy hasn't left Dorothy, because he's too old to see that she has wrinkles on her wrinkles.
The couple's son, Earl, will soon be celebrating his 60th wedding anniversary, let us hope he is blind and his wife is deaf.
I can't imagine being with the same person for 80 years; I would have killed myself or my wife after twenty years. But I'm happy for the old couple, may they enjoy many more years (days?) together.
