Amanda Heckert Named Editor of Indianapolis Monthly
INDIANAPOLIS, Feb. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Amanda Heckert, current Senior Editor of Atlanta magazine, has been named Editor of Indianapolis Monthly.
"Since her 2006 arrival at Atlanta magazine, Amanda has risen through the ranks and become the go-to idea generator for innovative approaches to stories," said Deborah Paul, Editorial Director of Emmis Publishing. "Indianapolis Monthly has enjoyed tremendous success in our community over the years, and I believe Amanda will be a great steward of the franchise. Her intelligence, creativity, and spirit can only help the magazine improve and prosper."
Heckert graduated from the University of South Carolina Honors College with a degree from the School of Journalism and Mass Communications. Before joining Atlanta magazine, Heckert edited Newcomer magazine, a monthly covering Atlanta real estate, entertainment, arts, dining, and education, and helped launch the Atlanta School Guide.
According to Atlanta magazine editor Steve Fennessy, "Amanda knows the best magazines are as much a pleasure to read and to look at as they are informative, and I'm confident the readers of Indianapolis Monthly will see their city reflected in ways that will be surprising, delightful, and provocative in the months and years to come. Our loss is your gain."
Heckert begins her duties February 27.
