Disabled Veterans National Foundation Delivers More Than $280,000 Worth of Goods for Veterans to Start off 2012
WASHINGTON - (BUSINESS WIRE) - The Disabled Veterans National Foundation (www.dvnf.org),
a non-profit organization dedicated to helping men and women who serve
and return home wounded or sick after defending our nation's freedom,
has shipped over $283,000 worth of supplies to veterans shelters and
groups already in the first month of the year.
"We have three to four more shipments planned to go out soon to
continue our mission of directly supporting and helping veterans across
America," said Precilla Wilkewitz, President of DVNF. "We were
able to make a big difference in 2011 by shipping over $8.6 million
worth of supplies to veterans services groups nationally. From
supporting Stand Downs to homeless shelters we thank our many donors and
supporters for making this kind of aid possible."
DVNF is also continuing the many programs that directly help veterans
and their families stay in their homes and continue their education
after serving (See Veterans Programs at www.dvnf.org).
In addition to shipping large volumes of supplies to veteran's
organizations, DVNF is accepting applications for its scholarship
program, financial education courses, veteran appreciation and
individual veteran assistance programs. Given the increasing number of
women veterans who are returning from active service and finding serious
challenges to adjusting to being a mom, spouse and employee, the DVNF is
working hard to address the specific needs of women veterans of all eras.
"We are looking forward to making sure the remainder of 2012 is
successful in terms of us supporting our many existing programs as well
as supporting events and veterans service groups who need the assistance,"
said Wilkewitz. "We are proud of the fast start of the new year at a
time when other funding sources are being challenged or cut."
