NASHUA, N.H., Jan. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Resonetics announces an important upgrade to their RESOlution line of DUV (193nm) laser ablation systems for LA-ICP-MS analytical instruments: a 6X larger two-volume sample cell, the S-155 by Laurin Technic (Michael Shelley), with 155x105 mm working area. The S-155 improves two-volume sampling technology with 38 mm headroom to minimize condensation of ablated material on the window for decreased element fractionation and increased sensitivity. Sample washout time is further reduced while halving helium usage; the effective sampling volume is few cubic cm and ensures uniform ablation characteristics everywhere on the sample. Removing the window for cleaning takes a few seconds.

A range of sample holders are available (all with top-surface sample referencing) accommodating up to qty 15-26mm samples and qty 12-13mm standards, or qty 3-165-mm-long slots for 28-30 mm microscope slides, or any combination of the above. A universal holder with sample area of 155x105 and depth 31 mm (illustrated with AppleĀ® iPhone for scale) with the clamping kit will mount irregularly-shaped samples like speleothems or corals.

The S-155 cell is also available as an upgrade to installed standard RESOlution instruments and integrates with GeoStar sample-navigation software and vision hardware.
