1st Annual World Flipped Class Open House to be Held January 30th 2012
WASHINGTON - (BUSINESS WIRE) - The first annual World Flipped Classroom Open House will occur on Monday
January 30, 2012, in two countries, 20 states, and more than 30 cities
and towns as classrooms across the globe open their doors to allow other
educators to see how Flipped Learning works and what happens when
learning is turned on its head.
This first-of-its-kind educational event is being held to raise
awareness of the Flipped Learning ideology, a unique learning approach
that has teachers delivering lectures outside of the traditional
classroom via videos which students view on their own as homework.
Instead of listening to lectures in the classroom, the time in class is
used for active problem solving by students and one-to-one or small
group tutoring with the teacher. This allows students to learn at their
own pace; by viewing the video lectures at a time and place of their
choosing, students are able to grasp the content in the manner in which
they learn best and use classroom time for collaborative projects and
one-on-one instruction with the teacher. Educators from all disciplines
and across the globe are embracing Flipped Learning in elementary and
secondary schools, the World Flipped Class Open House is intended to
shed light on this unique approach to learning and encourage other
teachers to give Flipped Learning a try in their own schools.
For more information about the Flipped Class Open House, including a
list of the locations, dates, and times, or the Flipped Class
Conference, go to http://flipped-learning.com/.
Educators wanting to go deeper into the Flipped Learning ideology can
register now for the 3rd
Annual Flipped Class Conference, being held on June 18-20 in
Chicago; which includes an open Call for Presentations.
Jon Bergmann and Aaron Sams, high school science teachers and pioneers
in the Flipped Class ideology, are available for interviews.
