UANI Statement on Success of Jennifer Lopez Fiat Parody Video
NEW YORK - (BUSINESS WIRE) - United
Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) President, Ambassador Mark D. Wallace,
issued the following statement today regarding the success of UANI's Fiat
parody video, featuring Jennifer Lopez. The UANI video already has
more than 30,000 YouTube views, and has been covered by dozens
of national media outlets:
We appreciate the overwhelming and positive response to our Fiat
campaign and Jennifer Lopez parody video. Thousands of our supporters
have been writing to Fiat, and expressing their opposition to Fiat's
continued irresponsible business in Iran. Fiat should hear the message
loud and clear: it must end its business in Iran.
American consumers have a choice in the car that they drive, and they
will always choose one produced by a responsible automaker to one made
by a company that brazenly does business with the brutal Iranian regime.
We again call on Ms. Lopez to use her leading status as a global
spokesperson to speak out against Fiat's business in Iran, and the
regime's appalling human rights abuses. Her silence is unfortunate and
disappointing.
UANI
contacted Ms. Lopez and Fiat executives earlier this month regarding
Fiat's business in Iran and the Iranian regime's human rights abuses and
nuclear ambitions. UANI has yet to receive responses of any sort.
Fiat
sells and distributes trucks in Iran, through its subsidiary Iveco,
which have been used by the Iranian regime to transport ballistic
missiles and stage gruesome public executions. Fiat also continues to
operate in Iran's automobile market, and is reportedly planning to
expand its presence there by opening a luxury Maserati dealership in
Tehran.
UANI's campaign against Fiat began in 2011, and included advertisements
in New York newspapers [see additional ad here],
and a protest
at the New York International Auto Show.
