Woodstock, Georgia In Mourning: Bob The Turkey Killed
By Robert Paul Reyes
"Bob the Turkey survived Thanksgiving, but the New Year didn't bring good luck to the city of Woodstock's beloved, albeit unofficial, mascot.
Bob, who showed up in town about a year ago and decided to settle down and make a home, was hit by a car and killed Sunday afternoon near the intersection of Ga. Hwy. 5 and Woodglen Drive, where he resided, City Clerk Rhonda Pezzello told the AJC Tuesday."
Grief-stricken residents of Woodstock set up a memorial along the highway where the beloved Turkey lived and spread cheer throughout the community.
Bob showed up in town one day and decided to stay, much to the delight of residents. On Thanksgiving the townspeople had no thoughts of serving Bob as the main course, he probably had the seat of honor in somebody's house on Thanksgiving.
Animals, even silly-looking turkeys enrich our lives; I would hate to live in a household without a cat or a dog.
Bob had the town residents at "gobble, gobble", I bet every Thanksgiving they will shed tears in his memory.
