Neurotech(R) Adds TENS Capability to the Kneehab(R) XP Quadriceps Therapy System for Muscle Rehabilitation and Pain Management

Neurotech North America has incorporated Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) capability to its flagship Kneehab XP device to provide pain management capabilities. Kneehab XP is an innovative quadriceps therapy system that is clinically proven to strengthen the quadriceps muscle and improve knee stability. With the addition of TENS, the Kneehab XP is the only conductive garment of its kind to provide both quadriceps strengthening and pain management capabilities in one.

Kneehab, with TENS capability, is cleared by the FDA and is indicated for muscle re-education of the quadriceps, maintaining or increasing range of motion of the knee joint, prevention or retardation of disuse atrophy in the quadriceps, early post-surgical quadriceps strengthening, improved post-surgical knee stability secondary to quadriceps strengthening, and increasing local blood circulation. With the additional TENS programs, the Kneehab is also cleared to provide an adjunctive therapy to reduce the level of pain and pain symptoms associated with osteoarthritis, symptomatic relief of chronic, intractable pain, and an adjunctive treatment in the management of acute, post-surgical or post-traumatic knee pain.

The Kneehab has shown to be an effective adjunct therapy for patients who are pre- and post-surgical for Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA), sports-related injuries such as Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) repair, degenerative conditions like osteoarthritis, and knee joint conditions like patella femoral pain syndrome (PFPS).

The Kneehab XP system comprises a comfortable, easy-to-use conductive garment and a hand-held controller that delivers patented Multipath™ stimulation to the quadriceps area of the thigh. The system is easy to set up and is comfortable for the patient to wear which results in higher levels of patient compliance than with standard NMES devices. This next-generation design features six programs that deliver Multipath stimulation and three programs delivering TENS.

Multipath, a patented stimulation technology developed by Neurotech, mimics the natural muscle recruitment sequence to maximize fiber contractions and promote rapid recovery from quadriceps atrophy. Multipath is supported by the stimulation being applied to broad sections of the quadriceps region via the conductive garment: more stimulation is applied over a wider area than standard electrotherapy resulting in better muscle recruitment and faster rehabilitation.

Kneehab is only available by prescription. Call Neurotech at 866.453.0578 to find an authorized distributor or visit www.neurotech.us for more information.
