Katy Perry's parents should be consoling their daughter, instead of using her divorce as an opportunity to publicize their ministry. Perry's parents remind me of evangelical Christians who in the aftermath of a tragedy like Hurricane Katrina proclaim: This is an opportunity to reach souls for Christ, these folks have lost everything, and that makes them more receptive to the Gospel message.
Evangelicals would be more successful if they ministered to the emotional and physical needs of people, before they hit them upside the head with the Gospel.
