MASHANTUCKET, Conn., Jan. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Diana, A Celebration, the award-winning exhibit that chronicles the life and work of Diana, Princess of Wales, is entering its final days at Foxwoods Resort Casino's Great Cedar Exhibition Area. Set to close at Foxwoods after Sunday, Jan. 15, the exhibition is approaching 1 million visitors during its North American tour, which continues in February 2012 at the Mall of America in Bloomington, MN.

On loan from Althorp Estate, the Spencer family's 500-year-old ancestral home in England, the exhibition contains 150 objects, ranging from Princess Diana's royal wedding gown and 28 of her designer dresses to family heirlooms, personal mementos, paintings and rare home movies and photos.

Foxwoods is the only northeastern stop for Diana, A Celebration. Information and tickets are available at http://www.dianaexhibition.com/ and http://www.foxwoods.com.

Princess Diana's charm, beauty and easy grace touched people worldwide during her short and complex life. The stunning collection of her personal items invites visitors to share the milestones of her many roles, ranging from schoolgirl and athlete to kindergarten teacher and royal bride to devoted mother and charity advocate. One section of the exhibition is devoted to her energetic and multi-faceted public life and myriad of charities and causes, including her pioneering efforts in causes surrounding AIDS, the homeless and landmines.

Princess Diana was one of the most remarkable women of her time, and one of the most photographed - more than one billion television viewers witnessed the 1981 Royal Wedding, which exhibition visitors can recall through her resplendent wedding ensemble complete with gown, 25-foot train, diamond tiara, veil, shoes, parasol and bridesmaid's dress. Home movies filmed by her father and scenes from her childhood, her engagement to Prince Charles, and the events leading up to the Royal Wedding are illustrated through video clips, personal mementos, photos, displays and letters.

Throughout nine galleries, heirlooms, paintings, letters, videos and photos provide historical and personal context. Other items include designer suits and evening gowns worn by the Princess in her public life; two diamond tiaras and other priceless family jewels; the original text of the Earl Spencer's moving tribute to his sister at the funeral in Westminster Abbey; the score and lyrics of the Elton John/Bernie Taupin composition, adapted from "Candle in the Wind;" original heritage family paintings; and books of condolences left by people throughout the world.

In honor of this iconic exhibition, the Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research center is inviting guests of Diana, A Celebration to browse the largest Native American museum in the world at no extra cost. Each exhibition ticket stub is good for one free entry to the acclaimed Smithsonian affiliate providing a full day of learning at Foxwoods.

Diana, A Celebration is produced by Arts & Exhibitions International. Each year, a donation of whichever is the greatest of 10,000 GPB; 10 percent gross retail price of the Diana: A Celebration travelling exhibition products; or all profits from visitor activity, including the Diana: A Celebration exhibition at Althorp and overseas is made to The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund (Registered Charity No. 1064238).
