"The Granddaddy of all Tailgates" at Brookside Golf Club Will Precede the 2012 Rose Bowl
PASADENA, Calif. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - University of Oregon and University of Wisconsin alumni and fans can
expect more than just one of the most hotly-contested bowl game
match-ups at the 98th Rose Bowl Game on Monday, January 2 in
Pasadena. Preceding the game, American Golf's Brookside Golf Club -
located adjacent to the historic Rose Bowl Stadium - will host two of
the largest and most exciting tailgate parties in college football.
Brookside Golf Club will host an expected 15,000 tailgaters in two
separate tailgate parties located on the golf course fairways. During
the past two years, Brookside has completely re-vamped its tailgate
management operations and catering capabilities, leading to some of the
best tailgate experiences ever for a combined 40,000+ alumni and fans
during the 2010 and 2011 Rose Bowls and the 2010 BCS National
Championship.
In 2011, TCU's Kristi Hoban called the team's official tailgate prior to
the Rose Bowl, "Amazing; the whole day was magical for our alumni and
fans; we heard nothing but compliments!" The same year, Terry Murawski
of the Wisconsin Badgers' W Club called its tailgate for 10,000 guests,
"The finest Badger Blast tailgate party we have ever had for this size
of crowd! Brats were hot, and beer was ice cold all the way to the end.
Organization was great, and staffing was excellent."
This year's tailgates will be no exception, with more than 350 Brookside
and American Golf staff members on hand to ensure both events are
flawlessly executed. The Oregon Ducks official tailgate will begin at
10:00 am on hole #1 at Brookside, where festivities will include live
entertainment; a delicious buffet featuring pulled pork sliders,
honey-battered fried chicken, a variety of side salads and luscious
desserts; ice cold beverages including beer, sodas and wine; and
performances by the Oregon marching band, Duck mascot and spirit team.
Up to 10,000 Wisconsin alumni and fans will enjoy more than 20,000
brats, 48,000 cans of beer, desserts and hundreds of pounds of Wisconsin
cheese during the team's official Badgers Blast/Huddle, which begins at
10:30 am on holes #11 and #15 at Brookside. Festivities will include a
live band and performances by the Wisconsin marching band, Badger mascot
and spirit team.
