Based on a true story: Mother takes secret to grave but son of Catholic priest tells all
The release of Alpine Publishing Inc.'s latest title, "Everybody Calls My Father, Father," is based on the true life love story of the author's parents. Author Tim "Dr. Hope" Anders, exposes to the world the hardships and heartache that his mother had to endure because of her secret and forbidden love. The character of a tenacious young woman, Bouvette Sherwood, who is a successful New York Broadway producer and actress, drives the plot.
In the mid 1940s, Bouvette meets and falls in love with a charming alcoholic, Hughie Hewitt. He has a secret, though, which he keeps from her during their intense courtship - he is a Catholic priest. For years, their steamy romance and covert living arrangements are successfully hidden from the suspicious eyes of the church. After spawning two children, their deception becomes increasingly difficult to conceal.
Sworn to secrecy and afraid of retaliation, Bouvette never went public with her true life story. Years after her death, her son, Tim "Dr. Hope" Anders writes this tell all book full of optimism, tears, empowerment and humor.
A Side Note: Because Bouvette's children were taken away from her at a young age and placed in state run dormitories, while there, Tim Anders made a promise to himself: When he grew up, he would write children's books to help other children in challenging situations. True to his word, the Life Lesson series children's books were born and have won several awards.
