Big Fish's Hit Series Mystery Case Files, Played by Over 100 Million Worldwide, Debuts On iPad
SEATTLE - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Big
Fish Games, the category leader in premium casual games,
today released Mystery
Case Files: Dire Grove, the first Apple iPad game from
its award-winning Mystery Case Files series. Filmed in the snowy
mountains of Argentina, Mystery Case Files: Dire Grove integrates
movie-quality film clues with the hidden-object-and-puzzle adventure
gameplay that is the hallmark of the brand. The film portions, which are
reminiscent of the movie, The Blair Witch Project, include
integrated clues to create an immersive non-linear adventure tailored
for any level player. In addition, the iPad version of Mystery Case
Files: Dire Grove offers a completely new cinematic ending exclusive
to iOS.
"With integrated movie-quality film throughout the game, Mystery
Case Files: Dire Grove was a natural fit for the iPad and its
HD display," said Patrick Wylie, vice president of Big Fish Studios. "We
combined the best elements of a reality thriller with the stimulating,
easily accessible gameplay for which our Mystery Case Files
series is best known. We are excited to be introducing this series to a
new tablet audience. "
Mystery Case Files: Dire Grove begins with the discovery of a
videotape in an abandoned car in north England. The game includes
approximately eight to 12 hours of interactive gameplay, complete with
hidden objects, video clues and puzzles set within an intriguing
location - Dire Grove. Gameplay is open-ended, allowing exploration in a
non-linear, classic adventure fashion. Further, once unlocked, all the
games puzzles and hidden object scenes can be played competitively for
point rankings on individual Game Center leaderboards.
The story of the game centers on the Celtic legend of Dire Grove, which
has been passed down from generation to generation for centuries.
Considered a fairytale, the legend's telling was common at campfires and
as a bedtime story meant to frighten small children into staying in
their beds throughout the night. However, a recently unearthed artifact
in the United Kingdom corroborates the legend and in the fall of 2009,
four graduate students traveled to a small township near Blackpool,
England and began a journey of survival in the secluded resort of Dire
Grove. They were never heard from again...
The iPad edition of Mystery Case Files: Dire Grove is a
Collector's Edition, giving fans early access to the full Mystery
Case Files: Dire Grove game, as well as extra content. With the
Collector's Edition, people can enjoy additional gameplay, an
achievements and awards system, an integrated strategy guide, and a
behind-the-scenes look at the making of the game.
