This week the National Gallery of Australia has announced that the iconic Australian company San Remo will be the Exhibition partner for the 15 and 16 century Italian Renaissance exhibition which opens on the December 9, 2011.

San Remo has played a long standing role in not only bringing a taste of Italy to our dinner tables and making pasta a family favourite but has also played an important role in developing a quality durum wheat industry in Australia.

The exhibition which runs until the April 9, 2012, features Renaissance masterpieces from Raphael, Botticelli, Titan and Bellini as well as lesser known artists, there will be more than 70 works on canvas and panel made between 1400 and 1600 in central and northern Italy.

The collection is on loan from the Accademia Carrara, Bergamo whilst it undergoes renovation work and is a one opportunity for us to experience the splendour, colour and glory of the early and high renaissance.

Shanthini Naidoo director of the National Gallery of Australia said, "This is the first time that there has been an exhibition of early Renaissance paintings in Australia and the first time that paintings by Raphael, Botticelli, Titan and Bellini have been seen in this country. The Renaissance exhibition is a fantastic opportunity for Australian families to see the works of these Italian masters without having to travel abroad. We are delighted to be partnering with a quality and iconic brand like San Remo to stage the exhibition in Australia."

If all of that doesn't get your artistic juices flowing the partnership will be featuring two special San Remo chef and curator dinners as part of the ACT Tourisms Enlighten festival on Saturday the March 3rd and Saturday March 10th 2012.

The evening will include a special late night viewing of the exhibition and speakers at the dinner will include National Gallery of Australia curator Christine Dixon, executive Chef James Kidman and San Remo Brand Ambassador, Adam Swanson.

The Exhibition will be presented at the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra, the gallery is open from 10 am to 5pm every day of the exhibition apart from Christmas day and you will be able to view Renaissance on Saturday nights until 7pm after December 10, 2011.

For more information on this incomparable opportunity, unless you can get to Italy, go to www.nga.gov.au and don't forget the gallery is operating on timed ticketing for this exhibition which means less queuing and more viewing.
