COPD Foundation Hosts Second Annual Awards and Recognition Benefit in New York City to Honor Community Leaders
WASHINGTON - (BUSINESS WIRE) - To recognize community leaders and their efforts in education,
awareness, research and advocacy on behalf of the 24 million individuals
affected by Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), the COPD
Foundation will host its second annual Awards
and Recognition Benefit, Thursday, December 8, 2011, 6:30-9
PM, at the Hudson Theater, 145 West 44th Street, New York, NY.
"The COPD Foundation is proud to honor these individuals and
organizations that have been instrumental in making significant advances
in the fight against COPD," says John Walsh, president and co-founder of
the COPD Foundation. "Now that COPD has become the third leading cause
of death in the U.S. - 12 years earlier than predicted âwe've
reached a critical turning point in the fight against COPD."
Internationally renowned artist and sculptor Michael Kalish will
receive the COPD Awareness Award for Outstanding National Awareness
Campaign for 24M, a monument inspired by the DRIVE4COPD
pinwheel icon that symbolizes a person's ability to breathe. DRIVE4COPD
Celebrity Ambassador, Go Daddy and NASCAR Nationwide Series and IndyCar
Driver, Danica Patrick will receive the COPD Advocacy Award for
Advancement of COPD.
