The Meeting Point Between Consumer and Companies

CONSUMIAMI 2012, the first fair in Florida and the United States dedicated exclusively to educate and empower the consumer, will take place March 19-24, 2012 at the Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus commemorating the day of the consumer, March 15. Now in its second year in the US, CONSUMIAMI, sponsored by Mercado de Dinero, the City of Miami and Ausbanc, was developed following the success of CONSUMERALIA in Spain and around the world.

CONSUMIAMI is intended to be the meeting point between the consumer and the companies for a more knowledgeable consumer. Companies in a wide range of industries including food, tourism, automotive, construction, real estate, banking, health, beauty, education and more, will be present at this fair providing consumer guidance, useful tips, banking products, discussing common claims and current issues that impact the consumer. The event will make information available so everyone will have the ability to learn about their rights as a consumer.

"One of the challenges we have is the lack of information for the consumers," said City of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado. "CONSUMIAMI will pave the way so that consumers are confident that they know what they need and where they can find that information. The event will be very beneficial to the city of Miami because consumers are of great importance to all the local governments," concluded Regalado.

CONSUMIAMI 2012 will consist of a series of panels and roundtables where the topics discussed will include legal, financial, communication and advertising, health and tourism among others. Health and healthy life workshops, legal advice workshops to raise awareness of consumer rights for any type of claims, and job-hunting workshops are among some of the forums and stands that will be presented. CONSUMIAMI will also include fun activities for all ages including children, who will have a reading workshop, drawing contest, short story workshop and recycling workshop.

"What unites us all without distinction of gender, race or religion, is that we are all consumers," said Luis Pineda, President of Ausbanc International. "We hope that Miami, as the doorway to Europe and all of Latin America, can be a leader as a city where the consumer is respected. The goal is to cover consumer issues in a comprehensive and entertaining way," added Pineda.

Participants will include representatives of private businesses and government and will serve as a grand forum to exchange information. Businesses can participate as exhibitors, where they can inform the consumer about their services in general and it will also provide a great opportunity for businesses to learn from the consumer and the improvements they want in the products and services they consume daily.
