Time Warner Cable Adds 37 Spanish-Language Channels to Its iPad App Programming Lineup
NEW YORK - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Time Warner Cable today announced the addition of 37 popular
Spanish-language national and international channels to its already
robust programming offering on the TWCable TV app for the Apple iPad .
The channels are available on the iPad at no additional charge to Time
Warner Cable video customers that subscribe to those channels, including
El Paquetazo digital cable subscribers.
This offering gives those subscribers the ability to watch even more of
their favorite Spanish-language networks on their iPad from any room in
the home. Popular networks such as Discovery Espanol, CNN Espanol,
Boomerang Espanol, Caracol, and Disney XD Espanol, will be added to
TWCable TV . These networks will join the five Spanish-language channels
already available: Galavision, Gol TV, History en Espanol, La Familia
Cosmovision, and Mun2. The programming lineup available will vary by
region.
"We are tremendously proud to be able to provide such a significant
expansion in our Spanish-language channel offering for our iPad app.
This is a big step forward in our commitment to offering the best
possible entertainment experience to our customers," said Jeffrey
Hirsch, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer,
Residential Services at Time Warner Cable.
El Paquetazo, available in New York, North Carolina, South Carolina,
Texas, Los Angeles and San Diego, offers a mixture of more than 140
English and Spanish-language channels including news, music,
entertainment, sports and family programming as well as Lo Mejor On
Demand. For those living in the New York City area, El Paquetazo also
includes NY1 Noticias, the only local Spanish-language news channel
operating 24-hours, seven days a week. Many of the channels that are
being added are also part of Time Warner Cable's Nuestra Tele and Mas
Canales tiers.
This latest enhancement comes after Time Warner Cable's announcements
earlier this year of the launch of TWCable TV 2.0, which offers
customers the ability to use the iPad as a remote control and to program
and manage their DVRs; and the launch of TWCable TV 2.5 which added
search, parental control & closed captioning. Customers can download the
app from the App Store, launch it, log in and scroll through the channel
lineup to select preferred programming. For a complete channel lineup
