DIY Network Renews Blog Cabin, TV's First Interactive Home Building Series, for a Sixth Season
NEW YORK - (BUSINESS WIRE) - DIY Network's Blog
Cabin, the first-ever interactive home building television
series, will return for a sixth season next year. Beginning in January
2012, DIY
Network and DIYNetwork.com
invite the world to help renovate a 1880s farmhouse in Waldoboro, Maine.
DIY Network's Blog Cabin asks viewers to vote and blog on the
design features of the ultimate vacation home. Premiering in August
2012, this primetime series also offers a chance for one lucky viewer to
win the cabin.
A Cincinnati, Ohio, resident was selected as the winner of the 2011 Blog
Cabin, located in Susan, Va. Carol Livingston got the call on her
birthday that she had been randomly selected among over 8.9 million
entries to win the Chesapeake Bay-area vacation home. Livingston plans
to use the home as a vacation property for her family until retirement.
Then, the couple is considering permanently moving there. A Time Warner
Cable subscriber, Livingston says she is an avid fan of DIY Network and
learned about the sweepstakes from watching episodes of Blog Cabin.
"I like the way the kitchen flows right into the dining area and right
out through the great room," Livingston remarked when asked about her
favorite part of the home. "And it's such a beautiful water view. It's
just stunning." Livingston shares more of her thoughts about winning the
home on DIYNetwork.com's Blog Cabin blog.
Another lucky fan will have a chance to win DIY Network's next Blog
Cabin in 2012. The newly selected property sits on over 51 acres of
waterfront farmland, which was owned by one family for more than 160
years. Hosted by Chris
Grundy of Cool Tools, the new season will feature a
team of DIY Network's expert hosts transforming a 3-bedroom, 2.5-bath
late 1800s home into a modern-day retreat. All design decisions will be
determined by DIYNetwork.com users through online voting, which starts
in January 2012.
DIY Network's Blog
Cabin premiered in 2007 and was a huge success online and
on-air. In five seasons, over 23 million online votes on cabin features
ranging from the floor plan, roof, countertops, front door and more,
were cast on DIY Network's companion website, DIYNetwork.com.
