New App "The Eatery" Gives Old Eating Habits a Makeover

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Massive Health, a health startup, has introduced a nutrition app for the iPhone that offers a simple, beautiful approach to eating better. Instead of counting calories, cups and ounces, The Eatery tracks and analyzes your overall eating patterns to give you a big-picture breakdown of your strengths, weaknesses and the best places to make a change.

Unlike traditional diet apps, which only analyze your food, The Eatery tells you about yourself. "It's not helpful to know that your favorite brownies have 400 or 600 calories," says CEO Sutha Kamal. "What's helpful is discovering that you're more vulnerable to them in the late afternoon."

So how does the app work? Got three seconds? Just snap a picture of your food and use the one-swipe portion tool to indicate serving size. The Eatery will send your picture to other people using the app, who will help rate your meal. After only a few days of snapping photos of your meals, you'll start getting insight into:

-- What time of day you eat healthiest
-- Where you eat the best and worst
-- Whether or not your habits are improving over time
-- What your fittest and fattest eating habits look like (you'll get a
photo montage of your best & worst days)

The Eatery makes it easy to get feedback and support from your Facebook friends, so they can keep you honest even when they're not eating with you. Also, your photos are organized in a food feed so you can stay aware of what you're eating and start recognizing important patterns (e.g. Do your meals tend to look beige? Do most of your photos feature plastic packaging?)

The Eatery iPhone app is available for download at no cost at massivehealth.com/eatery
