Naxos is proud to release several new digital products including an exciting new iPad application aimed at children aged five and above. Naxos has always been a market leader within the classical music industry and the launch of these new products cement Naxos' role as the leader in the classical, digital music field.

iPad App
On October 11, 2011, Naxos released its first App designed for the iPad. An interactive version of the hugely successful "My First Classical Music Book"(http://itunes.apple.com/app/my-first-classical-music-app/id470865535), this app is the perfect introduction to classical music for children. Find out where classical music is used, meet the great composers, visit the sections of the orchestra and hear each instrument in action. The cost of this app is $2.99. For a video demonstration of the app, visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BW9NCO3aGFI.

iBooks
The first digital products, released on September 13, 2011, were four Naxos iBooks in a series looking into the lives of great composers including "Rodrigo: A Portrait," "Shostakovich: A Portrait," "Joseph Martin Kraus: A Profile" and "Johann Baptist Vanhal: A Profile." These iBooks are designed to be read on iPhone, Pod Touch and iPads, and collectively contain around seven hours of music. The audio samples are contained in the text and can be accessed by tapping the screen to listen while you read.

A further seven iBook titles will be released on November 8, 2011, from the acclaimed Naxos Life and Music series. These titles look into the background and work of composers; such as, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Dvořák, Mahler, Haydn, Chopin and Liszt. Each title contains a detailed biography and two and a half hours of music which can be read on the iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone.

Klaus Heymann, Founder and Chairman of Naxos, commented on these digital initiatives: "Naxos has always embraced technology as a way to bring people closer to music. Naxos Music Library has become a crucial resource in the education of a whole generation of young musicians, and is increasingly used as a resource by orchestras and musicians, both in marketing and artistic planning. I see electronic books and apps as an important part of building on that success for the future."
