This critically acclaimed exhibition presenting the epic story of the horse's influence on American Indian tribes, from the museum's George Gustav Heye Center in New York, opens at the flagship museum on the National Mall in an expanded version. A Song for the Horse Nation in Washington, D.C. doubles its exhibition space to 9,500 square feet. Fifteen major objects have been added, including a 19th-century, 16-foot-high, hand-painted Lakota tipi depicting battle and horse-raiding scenes. Other highlights include Geronimo and Chief Joseph's rifles.
