Cindy Sheehan, others arrested Saturday night/Sunday morning released Sunday afternoon; 19 arrested; 58 total
Cindy Sheehan and 18 others arrested during the Sacramento Occupy event at Cesar Chavez Park Saturday night/Sunday morning were reportedly released by about 1:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
Sunday is Day 11 of the Sacramento occupation - the group voted to remain at Cesar Chavez Park indefinitely this week, despite more than 40 police vehicles (not including bikes) and at least 65 officers used to surround the park late Saturday night before the arrests.
At least 58 arrests have been made since the occupation began Oct. 6. The first court date is Oct. 26.
Of the 19 arrested Saturday night/Sunday morning, one was hospitalized and another person in a wheelchair was released early. All were charged with "unlawful assembly," penal code section 409, and loitering, both misdemeanors.
Saturday, more than 600 people - old, young from all walks of life - marched through the Sacramento financial district and held a 2 hour rally at the Capitol in concert with more than 1,000 Occupy protests all across the country.
