Arkansas Property Tax Payments Due Date Extended to October 17
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - This year under Act 175 of House Bill 1255, Arkansas's
statewide personal property tax deadline was changed to October 15
of each year. Since the new deadline falls on a Saturday this year, the
due date has been extended to Monday, October 17, 2011.
It is important that citizens meet the October 17 deadline to keep their
counties from suffering from missed revenues and to avoid penalty late
fees. Several payment methods are available to help make this process
convenient to tax payers. Most County Collectors offer phone, online,
mobile, and in-person payment options.
"County tax money funds county jails, the coroner's office, sheriff's
office, county hospitals, libraries, schools, and county government.
Citizens paying their taxes are a direct link to the community," said Pulaski
County Treasurer Debra Buckner. "Being able to provide electronic
payments makes the whole process more efficient. We are proud to
continue to partner with Information Network of Arkansas to serve the
public."
Last year a mobile payment option was launched at http://www.arkansas.gov/m,
as Arkansas became the first state to add secure payment processing of personal
property and real estate taxes specifically for smartphone users.
The 39 counties offering the secure online Web payments for personal
property and real estate taxes with a credit card (MasterCard, Visa,
American Express, and Discover) or electronic check include: Ashley,
Benton, Calhoun, Carroll, Clark, Cleburne, Columbia, Conway, Craighead,
Crittenden, Crawford, Cross, Dallas, Desha, Faulkner, Franklin, Garland,
Grant, Howard, Independence, Jefferson, Johnson, Lafayette, Lawrence,
Miller, Little River, Ouachita, Poinsett, Pope, Prairie, Pulaski,
Randolph, Saline, Sebastian, Stone, Union, Van Buren, Washington, and
White Counties. Residents may also check the full listing of counties
and deadlines available at www.ar-tax.org.
To use the online
personal property and real estate tax payment services, taxpayers
may enter the parcel number provided on their tax statements or search
the database by name or address for specific parcels. The property tax
system guides the user through a series of entry screens, and provides a
confirmation and printable receipt page for recordkeeping.
In addition to paying personal property and real estate taxes with a
credit card or electronic check online or via a mobile smartphone,
citizens may also make credit card payments over the phone or in person
at their Collector's office.
