Irish Bartender Triumphs in Pilsner Urquell International Master Bartender Competition 2011
PRAGUE - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Fearghus McCormack has won the title of Pilsner Urquell International
Master Bartender 2011 during a highly-competitive week-long final in the
Czech Republic. Fearghus, from Dublin, claimed victory against an
impressive group of finalists representing 15 countries. The competition
is the culmination of an annual quality assurance programme that
recognises the importance of bartenders when it comes to serving a
perfect pint of Pilsner Urquell. It is their commitment, passion and
dedication to quality that has helped Pilsner Urquell, the world's first
golden beer, to remain uncompromised since its creation in 1842.

Now in its sixth year, IMB 2011 brought together committed bartenders
from around the world to the beer's birthplace of Pilsen where they sat
intensive interviews in front of a panel of beer experts, wrote an
arduous exam and demonstrated their knowledge, passion and skills in the
heart of the brewery. The competition was then narrowed to five
challengers where in the last stage of testing in Prague, the finalists
performed a bartender serving exercise in front of a live audience.
Fearghus is more than thrilled to take home the title, "I can't begin to
express how excited and proud I am to win this prize. All the bartenders
have so much passion and have worked so hard to get here. I can't wait
to bring the inspiring legends of Pilsner Urquell to Dublin."
Second and third place went to Jaroslav UÄÃk from Czech Republic and
Peter Å kripko from Slovakia who both gave sterling performances
demonstrating in-depth knowledge of the brewing techniques that are
unique to Pilsner Urquell and masterfully displaying the art of the
perfect pour.
About Pilsner Urquell
Pilsner Urquell is the original Pilsner, created in 1842. Pilsner
Urquell means 'pilsner from the original source' and today is still
brewed according to the original recipe, with the same quality
ingredients and innovative process as was used back in 1842. Its
distinctive, full-bodied taste is different from all others, with a fine
balance of sweetness and bitterness. Pilsner Urquell is the flagship
brand of SABMiller's international brand portfolio and is a contender in
the premium status segment of the market.
