Upper Darby Resident Wins Grand Prize in the ACME Sizzlin' Summer Giveaway
MALVERN, Pa. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - ACME
Markets today announced that Upper Darby resident Robert McBurney
has won a $250,000 grand prize in the Sizzlin' Summer Giveaway. A
regular ACME shopper, McBurney successfully collected all the game
pieces to win the prize in the recently concluded summer-long Collect &
Win Game that saw ACME give away thousands of prizes and cash
equivalents.
"Winning a grand prize in the Sizzlin' Summer Giveaway has been a dream
come true," said McBurney. "My wife and our three children have been
living in a small two-bedroom apartment practically on top of each
other, and since winning this prize, we were recently able to make down
payment on a new house. I am extremely grateful to the all the folks at
ACME as this has literally changed our lives."
It was a prize that almost wasn't to be. After playing the game all
summer, the McBurney family mistakenly disposed of the winning game
piece thinking they already had it. Upon looking at his game board one
last time, they realized the one missing piece they needed for the
$250,000 grand prize was one that was thrown away. Fortunately they were
able to retrieve it.
McBurney was presented with his winner's check at his local ACME store
at 7901 Lansdowne Avenue in Upper Darby on Monday, October 3. Thousands
of prizes and in-store discounts were awarded throughout the duration of
the promotion.
