Canadian Radio Station Holds 'Win A Baby' Contest
By Robert Paul Reyes
"A Canadian radio station is running a 'Win a Baby' contest, with the winner getting three free in vitro fertilization treatments.
The prize offered by CIHT-FM, a hip hop radio station that goes by the moniker Hot 89.9, is worth at least $35,000, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Wednesday." UPI
This is wrong on so many levels...
If a couple can't afford fertility treatments, they won't be able to afford to raise a baby. The radio station will pay for the in vitro fertilization treatments, but then tax payers will be stuck with the bill for raising the damn baby.
There are too many people in this world, the radio station should do the socially responsible thing, and offer free sterilization as a prize.
One expert on infertility, Jan Silverman said, "I dislike the commodification, turning babies into products." No kidding! A baby isn't a large screen TV or a toaster! Although I'd rather get a free toaster than a free baby.
