Intelligent Medical Objects (IMO) Offers Medical Terminology Search on iPhone/iPad
NORTHBROOK, Ill. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Intelligent Medical Objects (IMO), the leading provider of
medical vocabulary services, announces today the availability of its
IMO Problem (IT) and IMO Procedure (IT) terminology products on the
iPhone and iPad platforms. For many years, IMO's terminology products
have been available as embedded components within leading EHR systems
such as Epic, Allscripts, Cerner, NextGen, Greenway and many others, as
well as through a web portal which many other types of healthcare IT
systems access. IMO's clinically-friendly terminology search results
contain the most appropriate administrative or reference code mappings
such as ICD-9-CM, CPT, SNOMED CT, HCPCS, RxNorm, ICD-10-CA and
ICD-10-WHO. IMO's release of ICD-10-CM will also be available on the
iPhone and iPad beginning in October, concurrent with its production
release to partner EHR systems.
The iPhone/iPad offering marks a significant opportunity for all medical
professionals to gain access to IMO's acclaimed search capabilities
through devices they already use today. "IMO strives to make our search
the easiest and most accessible to all healthcare professionals," states
Regis Charlot, EVP and CTO. "With the introduction of a native
application on the iOS platform, IMO brings all the benefits of our
refined search engine to devices attaining tremendous penetration into
the healthcare field. All the capabilities are there making IMO's search
the best of breed: partial words, eponyms, synonyms, acronyms and we
even account for many types of misspellings." The terminology driving
the iPhone/iPad search is the same one available to all IMO customers,
with 10 releases per year for the problem and diagnosis domain, along
with code mappings reviewed by AHIMA.
Many users say the new application is like having an entire medical code
reference library in their device. The new app can search for diagnoses
as well as orders, procedures, allergies, and immunizations, all using
familiar terms. "IMO is thrilled to offer our terminology on mobile
devices. For those who do not have access to IMO in their clinical
applications, this demonstrates our vision to support the clinical teams
to translate their intent to code. In cases where they do have access to
IMO in their clinical applications, they now can have access to the
richness of our content and better understand the true value of IMO's
vocabulary services. We hope this transparency would challenge our
clinical team to enhance IMO's content and better serve the clinicians,"
states Dr. Frank Naeymi-Rad, CEO. "This supplemental use is a great
option for users who don't have access to IMO through their EHR system."
"The best part of this offering is a portion of what is delivered in
both the iPhone and iPad and can be easily served up in your EHR,"
explains Jose Maldonado, IMO's vocabulary product manager. "Along with
our release of ICD-10-CM to our EHR partners, we will also be releasing
ICD-10-CM in the iPhone/iPad application for those users with premium
access."
