Lady Gaga told MTV, she wrote the song 'The Greatest Thing' a long time ago but held onto it simply because it didn't fit into any of her albums. Negotiations for the duet come about after Cher handed Lady Gaga the MTV 2010 VMA Award for Video of the year for "Bad Romance". Gaga received the award in a 'meat dress' that left Cher holding the 'meat purse' while the performer held the Award high. It doesn't matter if you are young or old the talent of these two mega stars always leaves audiences screaming for more, and who can blame them.
The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards will air live on August 28th at the Nokia Theatre Los Angeles. Lady Gaga will open this year's Awards, as well as being nominated for Best Female Video for "Born this Way", Best Video with a Message, Best Art Direction for "Judas" and Best Chorography. It will be interesting to see what Gaga comes up with this year to top her infamous 'meat dress'.
The voices of angels come in many forms. The talent of Cher and Lady Gaga singing together will link generations of rock audiences with this diva duet for 'The Greatest Thing'... and that has to be the greatest thing yet!
