Beau The Dog is a Math Whiz
By Robert Paul Reyes
"Labrador Retrievers are known for their hunting skills and friendly dispositions, but Beau, a black Lab who lives in Montana, is winning acclaim for his math abilities.
Owner David Madsen says if he tells Beau there are six dogs at the park and three dogs leave, and then asks him how many are left, the dog replies: 'Woof, woof, woof.'" ReutersWhat's amazing is that Madsen is implying that his wonder pooch understands English.
Madsen's cheap parlor trick might have convinced a few folks that his dog can really do math, if he hadn't gone overboard and claimed that he can also do some division and has memorized square roots.
The canine might divide his poop into different piles, and he might dig up some roots in the yard, but I'm sure he doesn't know Jack about square roots.
Beau may not know that one plus one equals two, but Madsen knows that when the pooch performs in front of his restaurant the cash register rings like a bell.
I'm not embarrassed that I stink at math, but I'll be doggoned if there's a dog with better math skills than me.
If Beau is really a math whiz he should be elected to Congress, maybe he can save our economy.
