Deaf Man Demands Interpreter At Nudist Festival
By Robert Paul Reyes
"A deaf man (Tom Willard) has accused a nudist park in upstate New York of violating federal law by refusing to provide him with a sign-language interpreter at an annual festival." Reuters
The ADA has made businesses, sporting venues, and many other types of buildings accessible to disabled persons. But there's always that one disabled person, with a chip on his shoulder, who makes a mockery of the ADA.
I'm all for making businesses accessible to wheelchair-bound individuals, but it's insane to expect a nudist park to provide a deaf visitor with his personal interpreter.
Dude, in a nudist park you need your eyes a hell of a lot more than you need your ears, enjoy the damn scenery and shut the heck up.
The world doesn't owe Tom Willard a living, or his own personal interpreter. In these hard economic times the owner of the nudist park should be allowed to give this clown a swift kick in the butt in lieu of an interpreter.
