New Poll Shows Trouble for Obama in Iowa

WASHINGTON, Aug. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A majority of Iowa voters disapprove of President Obama's performance in office, according to a new poll of Iowa voters released today. The poll found that 52 percent disapprove of the President's job performance, with 46 percent feeling strongly that Obama is not doing a good job. The President's popularity amongst Iowa Independents has cratered, with 61 percent of Independent Iowa voters disapproving of his performance, 51 percent disapproving strongly. Forty-seven percent of seniors disapprove of the President's job performance.

"The voters of Iowa have deep concerns about the President's leadership and the direction he has taken the nation," said Brian Walsh, President of American Action Network. "Just three years after Iowa supported President Obama, a majority of voters disapprove of his performance and this data raises questions about whether the President can win in Iowa next year."

The poll was conducted by The Tarrance Group and was commissioned by the American Action Network.
