Social Media Week Vancouver Receives Corporate Support

As Vancouverites delight in the arrival of summer on the Canadian West Coast, the team at Socialized! Ltd. is busy connecting with potential sponsors for Vancouver's first Social Media Week, taking place September 19 through 23, 2011. Social Media Week Vancouver will see the culmination of over 30 events during this five-day global event celebrating social media successes, best practices and social media integration at a local level.

Social Media Week Vancouver event hosts and co-founders of Socialized! Ltd., Shane Gibson and Anthony Caridi are pleased to share the support of Social Media Week Vancouver through a number of corporate sponsorships including Amuse Consulting, ING Direct, Marketwire, Small Business BC, UBC Continuing Studies and Urban Life Media.

"The global premise of Social Media Week includes registration and events that are held at no charge to our participants. Social Media Week was held in February 2009 in New York for the first time with 2,500 participants attending over forty individual events. The event scheduled for September 2011 will see Social Media Week take place in twelve cities across the globe including Beirut, Glasgow, Moscow and Vancouver. "I have been working directly with our board of advisors, sponsors and speakers and have not seen this kind of buzz around a social media event in Vancouver for quite some time," says Teri Conrad, Senior Social Strategist for Socialized! Ltd. "It has already taken on a life of its own."

This September's event sponsor ING Direct was one of the first to offer support with their venue sponsorship including ING's signature Orange-themed meeting space. "ING Direct is known as the pioneer in direct banking, offering event space for Vancouver's first Social Media Week is just a good fit with what we do," says ING Direct Manager, Meena Sandhu. "We are excited to participate and learn more about the increasing role social media plays in our society."
