CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Briar Chapel by Newland Communities, the area's largest green community, saw an increase in sales by 74 percent for the first quarter of this year compared to the first quarter of last year. Overall sales are up 36 percent year over year January through July.

According to a recent Metrostudy report, Briar Chapel is currently No. 3 in the Triangle based on annual starts. In addition, traffic to the community's website, www.briarchapelnc.com, is up 18 percent year over year, following a refresh of the site that includes mobile capabilities.

"One change we are seeing more and more every day is that prospective buyers are accessing the Briar Chapel website on their mobile devices," said Kristy Yule, regional vice president of marketing, Newland Communities. "To address this trend, we have developed a mobile-friendly site that makes it easy for visitors to find information about model homes, builders and other amenities while driving around the neighborhood and shopping for a new home."

The mobile-friendly site has GPS functionalities, allowing home shoppers to request directions to inventory homes, model locations and the information center. Its one-touch Click to Call feature connects visitors directly to Briar Chapel representatives, as well as builder sales agents.

Briar Chapel's parent company Newland has also seen an overall increase in net home sales for the second quarter. Sales are up 10.7 percent from Q2 2010 and 14.5 percent from Q2 of 2009.
