SEATTLE, Aug. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Groundspeak today was named to Outside Magazine's fourth annual "Best Places to Work" list. Groundspeak was ranked No. 7 out of 50 selected companies. The full list and story will be published in the September issue of Outside magazine, available on newsstands August 16, 2011.

Groundspeak has been inspiring outdoor play through location-based technology since founding the website Geocaching.com in 2000. The company has grown from the three original founders to more than sixty employees (affectionately known as the "Groundspeak Lackeys") while still maintaining a family friendly, perk-rich environment that fosters a healthy work-life balance. Employees benefit from free ski passes, catered lunches and all-expense-paid travel opportunities. Groundspeak's products now include several location-based smartphone apps and three websites. The company is actively recruiting for open positions and seeking exceptional candidates for future openings. See the Groundspeak jobs page for details.

Groundspeak Co-Founder Bryan Roth says, "It's an honor being named to Outside Magazine's 'Best Places to Work' list. We are dedicated to attracting and retaining stellar employees who enjoy the outdoors and cutting-edge technology. We believe that providing a great place for our team to work is a critical component required for delivering the best possible service to the amazing community of more than five million enthusiasts worldwide."

Outside's "Best Places to Work" issue celebrates the innovative companies that are setting a new standard for a healthy work-life balance. The yearlong research process sought out the best companies with at least 15 employees in the United States. Participating companies were sent confidential employee-satisfaction surveys and employer questionnaires.

All of the results were analyzed by experts, who selected the 50 companies that strive to enhance their employees' enjoyment of active endeavors, as well as environmental and social involvement.

Groundspeak was also named one of "The Best Places to Work...and Play" in May by Seattle Met magazine.
