Minister Raitt Discusses Healthy Workplaces With Safety Organization

The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Minister of Labour, met today with representatives of the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE) to discuss regional health, safety and environmental issues in the workplace.
"All Canadians across the country, whether they live in a metropolitan area or in a remote community, deserve access to fair, productive and healthy workplaces," said Minister Raitt. "I would like to acknowledge the CSSE for their work on workplace accident and injury prevention. Healthy work environments act as a catalyst to productivity and innovation and it is by working together that we can make Canada strong and prosperous."
The Labour Program develops, administers and enforces workplace legislation and regulations, such as the Canada Labour Code, which covers industrial relations, health and safety, and employment standards. These laws apply to federally regulated workers and employers.
