Professional Institute Expresses Concerns Regarding the New Shared Services Agency

Edirors Note: There is a letter attached to this press release.
The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) expressed serious concerns today about the Shared Services agency announced on August 4, 2011. In a letter to the Minister of Public Works and Government Services and the Treasury Board President, PIPSC President Gary Corbett decried the lack of consultation and the absence of details about the new agency.
President Corbett called upon the government to be open and transparent and to share the detailed business case for the new agency.
Mr. Corbett commented, "We welcome this initiative, but caution that the government will not be successful without leveraging the expertise of the 14,000 public service IT professionals who are PIPSC members."
The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada is a national union representing some 60,000 professionals and scientists across Canada's public sector.
