Proceeds to Benefit Ray Mendoza Foundation, Which Supports Military Families & Leadership Training

Core Synergy -- the maker of titanium-infused wristbands, endorsed by Mike Vick, Starlin Castro, former Ohio State Buckeye, AJ Hawk and other high-profile professional athletes -- is now offering a limited-edition JT wristband in honor of former Ohio State football coach, Jim Tressel.

Core Synergy's CEO, Michael DiSabato, is a former Ohio State student-athlete and an admirer of all the good things Jim Tressel did for the community, especially military families. After receiving calls from notable former Buckeyes -- such as 1973 Lombardi Award winner John Hicks, Hawk, and other prominent former players -- DiSabato created "JT" wristbands and gave them to his network of former Buckeye legends. He wasn't planning to produce the bands in mass quantity -- that is, until a local TV reporter snapped a photo at a recent Ohio State football practice and shared it on Twitter. Not too long after, Core Synergy's website and Twitter stream were flooded with requests from Tressel supporters looking to purchase the bracelets.

Core Synergy "JT" bracelets, $25, will be available through the Core Synergy website and at sport specialty retailers in Ohio. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Ray Mendoza Leadership Fund. Major Mendoza, a 1993 Big Ten runner-up wrestler and teammate of DiSabato at Ohio State, was killed in action on Nov. 14, 2005 during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Just four days after Ray's death, Tressel placed an "RM" decal on the back of the players' helmets for the game with traditional rival Michigan and gave the winning game ball to the Mendoza family. Jim Tressel went out of his way to express support for Major Mendoza and other military families -- something that touched DiSabato deeply.

"I know Coach Tressel made mistakes in the eyes of the NCAA, but no leader is perfect," explained DiSabato. "I hope Buckeye Nation will remember how the Tressel family went above and beyond the call of duty to help local nonprofits, military families and other community organizations."
