MCLEAN, Va., Aug. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Two area Gold's Gyms have seen their name change to Fitness Connection (www.fitnessconnectionusa.com) as a result of the recent purchase of the Houston-based company by Titan Fitness LLC.

As a result of the transaction, upstart Fitness Connection has grown to 17 locations ranking it among the top 25 largest health club chains in the nation.

"Fitness Connection represents our company's desire to be more than a fitness company and to focus on the holistic approach to our member's health," said Titan Fitness President/CEO Jeff Skeen. Titan Fitness has owned and operated the Reno and Sparks Gold's Gym locations since 2008.

McLean, VA-based Titan Fitness (www.titanfitnessllc.com) will continue to own and manage the two area gyms and Skeen said local gym team members will stay exactly the same. The regional Fitness Connection gyms are located in Reno (5390 Longley Lane); and Sparks (255 Disc Drive).

"We are thrilled to embark on this new venture with a terrific brand in Fitness Connection," said Skeen. "In the coming weeks and months, members will begin seeing upgrades to equipment, facilities and services."

In addition to its two Nevada gyms, Titan Fitness has begun the process of converting six company-owned Gold's Gyms in North Carolina to the Fitness Connection name. There are seven Fitness Connection locations in the Houston area with two additional Texas locations slated to open in November.
