Scottrade Releases Most Comprehensive Mobile Trading App for Investors
ST. LOUIS - (BUSINESS WIRE) - The most robust mobile stock market research and trading application
launched today by online investing firm Scottrade. The free app offers
more real-time research, news and analyst views than any other
direct-competitor apps on the market.
With extensive market research, streaming quotes, advanced charting functionality, and account management tools, the Scottrade(R) Mobile app can help you take control of your financial future right from the palm of your hand. (Photo: Business Wire)
"We created the most comprehensive mobile trading app for self-directed
investors whether they have an iPhone, BlackBerry®
or Android ," said Derrick Brooks, assistant director of
retail web services for Scottrade. "Our design team set out with the
customer experience as the top priority; that drove every decision.
"Scottrade Mobile raises the bar for mobile apps across the
financial services industry allowing for a better way to stay
up-to-the-second with quotes, news and charting," Brooks said. "It
empowers investors, from thought to trade, with the information they
need to react to changes in the market."
Features include the ability to:
-
Monitor investments
-
Generate investment ideas
-
Research opportunities and
-
Execute trades, including stocks, exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and
options through Scottrade brokerage accounts
"This app has everything a trader needs," said Chris Carril, senior
retail web services mobile channel analyst for Scottrade. "The idea
generation aspect is truly unique, because it enables investors to
research and vet investment opportunities from anywhere. In developing
Scottrade Mobile, our team saw a need for research and
information that wasn't being offered in other mobile apps."
Scottrade Mobile is the only
app among the firm's direct competitors that allows users to:
-
Research ETFs and filter results, including top year-to-date performers
-
Read analyst views from Standard & Poor's and briefing.com
-
Stay current on insider transactions with built-in content, providing
quicker access to information
-
Conduct in-depth earnings research with detailed charts on quarterly
earnings and future estimates from Reuters Multex database
-
Assess potential investments with Standard & Poor's ratings and
commentary
Other key features of the mobile app include:
-
Robust charting capabilities
-
Real-time streaming quotes and watch lists
-
Pre-market and after-hours trading
-
Automatically synched watch lists and alerts within account
-
Transaction history display
-
Fundamental statistics and profiles on public companies
Non-customers also can take advantage of the app and access features,
including market research and delayed streaming quotes. Additional
benefits designed for customers include secured login account management
features and access to premium content.
Scottrade's design team conducted formal usability testing and surveyed
customers to better understand how investors and traders would use the
app they were building. Nearly all indicated they are most interested in
viewing positions, checking account balances, making trades and watching
streaming quotes on their mobile device. Most respondents noted they
check their accounts, get quotes and read news. About one-third place
trades or do research.
Scottrade's team took the survey feedback with them to the design table.
The firm recognized early on that customer expectations in usability and
features are being set by influencers like Facebook.
"The team took cues from existing, user-friendly apps in creating
Scottrade Mobile's design," Carril said. "Our app caters to
a variety of investment techniques and strategies. We didn't want to
make a 'less-than' experience just because it's a mobile device and not
a personal computer. We sought to bring the convenience of the Scottrade
website to the palm of your hand."
The Scottrade Mobile app is simultaneously available on
Android , BlackBerry and iPhone®
devices and can be downloaded by visiting their respective app stores.
Graphics for the mobile app were created with a higher resolution to
optimize viewing on tablets, including the iPad. The firm plans to
expand the app's compatibility to additional devices with future updates.
The new Scottrade Mobile app is an extension of the firm's
enhanced mobile investment trading website (m.scottrade.com), which was
introduced in 2009.

Investors should consider the investment objectives, charges,
expense, and unique risk profile of an Exchange Traded Fund (ETF)
carefully before investing. Leveraged and Inverse ETFs may not be
suitable for all investors and may increase exposure to volatility
through the use of leverage, short sales of securities, derivatives and
other complex investment strategies. These funds' performance will
likely be significantly different than their benchmark over periods of
more than one day, and their performance over time may in fact trend
opposite of their benchmark. Investors should monitor these holdings,
consistent with their strategies, as frequently as daily. A prospectus
contains this and other information about the ETF and should be obtained
from the issuer. The prospectus should be read carefully before
investing.
Options involve risk and are not suitable for all investors. Detailed
information on our policies and the risks associated with options can be
found in the ScottradeOptions
Application and Agreement,Brokerage
Account Agreement, and by downloading the Characteristics
and Risks of Standardized Options and Supplements (PDF) from

branch office. Supporting documentation for any claims will
be supplied upon request.
