Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton today wished all Muslims around the world a happy and blessed Ramadan.

She stated that along with dozens of American Embassies, she will host an Eid Celebration in Washington for Muslims and non-Muslims to join together and reflect on American common values, faith and the gifts of the past year.
"During this month of peace and humility, I wish the 1.6 billion Muslims around the world Ramadan Kareem." -Ms. Clinton
Ramadan is the Islamic month of fasting. The Muslims in this time refrain from eating and drinking during daylight hours. Ramadan aims to teach Muslims about patience, spirituality, humility and submissiveness to God. Muslims fast for the sake of Allah and to offer more prayer.
