ADDING MULTIMEDIA SAMSUNG Makes Upgrading to Solid-State Drives Easier Than Ever
RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Samsung Electronics America, Inc., a market leader and award-winning
innovator in digital consumer electronics and information technology, is
making it even easier for PC users to replace their hard disk drives
(HDDs) with Samsung solid-state drives (SSDs). SSDs - which store data
on flash memory chips with no moving parts - allow computers to run
faster, use less energy, and resist shock.

Samsung's critically acclaimed 470 Series consumer SSDs now comes
bundled with a full version of Norton Ghost 15 software that delivers
the latest backup and restore technology from Symantec Corp. The
software enables Windows operating system users1 to safely,
quickly, and reliably migrate their existing system data by making an
exact copy of their HDD. Norton Ghost dramatically reduces the amount of
time required to install an SSD by eliminating the need to reinstall an
operating system and applications. In addition, Norton Ghost provides
powerful data backup and recovery tools including the ability to create
emergency recovery disks to restore data after system failures, spyware
infections or other mishaps.
Samsung is also introducing three new 470 Series SSDs with installation
kits offering everything needed to install a 2.5-inch SSD into a desktop
PC.
"SSDs have long been the drive of choice for power-users, but 2011 is
the year they are entering the mainstream. Their speed, reliability and
energy savings are simply too compelling to pass up," said Reid
Sullivan, senior vice president of mobile entertainment marketing,
Samsung Electronics America. "With this new software and desktop
installation kit, we're making it easier for consumers to experience
those benefits by simplifying the SSD installation process."
Samsung is the only SSD maker with the proprietary technology necessary
to design and manufacture its own DRAM and flash memory chips as well as
its proprietary 3-core MAX controller. IHS iSuppli expects worldwide SSD
revenue to nearly double during 2011, from $2.3 billion to more than $4
billion, as SSD performance increases and prices continue to fall.

Samsung's six new 470 Series SSDs, three of which include desktop
upgrade kits and all of which include Norton Ghost, are currently
