Zotec Partners Lands Billing Services Renewal with Eastern Virginia's Leading Radiology Group

INDIANAPOLIS - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Zotec Partners, an industry leader in medical billing, practice management and Radiology Information Systems (RIS) software and services, announces today that Medical Center Radiologists (MCR) out of Norfolk, Va., signed a five-year contract extension with the company to continue as its billing services provider. Since 2007, MCR has relied on Zotec Partners to combat rising costs and declining reimbursement, and has increased collections year-over-year.

"The original reason for engaging Zotec Partners was due to the combination of its service and software solutions," said Ted Dorsay, DDS, MD, president of Medical Center Radiologists. "We look forward to working with Zotec for the next five years because we truly consider them to be a partner-not just a vendor of billing services. We not only appreciate the outstanding relationship we have with our client manager, but also our accessibility to the highest levels of the company's executives."

MCR has more than 55 years of experience in advanced radiology practice and has grown to become the dominant radiology group in Eastern Virginia. The practice has 42 board-certified radiologists and was first to introduce nuclear medicine scanning, angiography, computerized tomography, ultrasonography, stone removal from the biliary tract, digital angiography, angioplasty, MRI and PET/CT in the service area.

"Zotec Partners' Electronic Billing Center gives us direct interaction with claims, removes manual processes and provides an overall system of checks and balances that we never had access to in the past," said Dorsay. "Armed with information generated from the Decision Support software, we are able to forecast changes in our revenue in these times of declining reimbursements. We look forward to our continued relationship, especially in the challenging times ahead."

Zotec Partners' Decision Support data mining tool allows MCR to have a finger on the pulse of the practice. The group monitors its accounts receivables, denials, charges, payments, net collections and gross collections by location. Reimbursement for specific procedures, such as PICC lines or biopsies, is examined by carrier and contract. This allows the practice to renegotiate contracts with unfavorable payments for specific procedures and identify outliers in reimbursement.

Zotec Partners also created a patient portal to allow MCR's patients to access their accounts, keep insurance information up to date, make credit card payments or set up time pay plans via the Internet.

"With the rapid growth of Health Savings Accounts-which make patients more accountable for their healthcare payments-online payment portals and Interactive Voice Response (IVR) phone systems are becoming an essential part of today's revenue cycle management environment," said Scott Law, president and CEO of Zotec Partners.

Zotec Partners is a solutions firm serving the hospital-based specialty market. The company offers a comprehensive suite of medical billing and practice management tools and services designed to make operations more efficient and productive in medical offices. Its flagship product, the Electronic Billing Center (EBC) practice management and billing software suite, serves 5,500 physicians in 45 states. Zotec Partners' EBC RIS software version 6.7 is certified for Ambulatory Meaningful Use by the Certified HIT Product List under the EHR Module product classification.
