Bangladesh Hindu Temple Holds Grand Opening in Michigan
Bangladesh Hindu Temple in Hamtramck in Michigan had a grand opening on 24th of July.
A former Union hall, it now contains image of Goddess Durga and other dieties. Only few blocks away, fire reportedly destroyed the temple in 2006 which was founded in 2002.
Hindu statesman Rajan Zed applauded efforts of temple leaders and area Bangladeshi-Hindu community to realize the wonderful Hindu temple.
Rajan Zed said it is important to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society.
According to reports, the Sunday grand opening included special prayers, community lunch and chanting. Hari Dutta is the President of the Temple whose congregation is mostly Bengali.
Hamtramck was established in 1798. It is known for its four-day long annual musical festival Hamtramck Blowout, in which reportedly over 200 bands will participate. Its schoolchildren reportedly speak 26 native languages.
