Dionne Bromfield Performs Despite Grief Over Death of Amy Winehouse
By Robert Paul Reyes
"Amy Winehouse's goddaughter Dionne Bromfield performed at a festival in Pontypridd just two hours after news broke of the singer's death.
The 15-year-old, who was mentored by Grammy-winning Winehouse, took to the stage at Ponty's Big Weekend to support boy band 'The Wanted'." BBC
At the untimely death of pop superstar Amy Winehouse we reflect on her musical achievements and incredible talent, but we also survey her personal landscape of debris and destruction: A failed marriage and broken relationships, a career in ruin, and a frail body devastated by years of addiction to alcohol and drugs.
But Amy had one great success in her life: Dionne Bromfield. Amy took Bromfield under her wings when her goddaughter was only 13. Under Amy's guidance Bromfield has become a star in her own right.
Amy's addictions forced her to cancel many gigs, but Bromfield performed on stage only two hours after she learned that her mentor had died.
Amy we thank you for the beautiful music you left us, and for the wonderful job you did mentoring Bromfield.
