Fat Cat Ok After Being Dropped By Hawk
By Robert Paul Reyes
"A New York woman says she had nearly given up hope her pet cat, Eddie, was still alive after the feline was carried off by a red-tailed hawk.
But Eddie, who weighs in at a hefty 15 pounds, was found stunned and disheveled but still kicking in the back yard of an apartment building after the estimated 4-pound bird apparently couldn't hang on and dropped it." UPI
Yet another reason to keep your kitty indoors, there might be flies flying inside your home, but I bet there aren't any hawks.
This harrowing incident may have cost Eddie a couple of his nine lives, but he is no worse for wear.
A cat who is allowed to wander outdoors kills hundreds of birds, rodents and other small creatures during his lifetime. Poor Eddie got to experience being the prey instead of the predator.
The hawk dropped Eddie from a height of about 20 stories; the bird just couldn't hang on to the fat feline.
Moral of this story: It's OK for your cat to be fat, and keep him indoors!
