Florida Jail Stops Providing Free Underwear to Inmates
By Robert Paul Reyes
"A Florida sheriff said men booked into his county's jail are no longer being provided underwear free of charge, but they do have the option of purchasing pairs." UPI
Male inmates aren't allowed to bring in their own underwear, because it's too time consuming to search the briefs for contraband. If dudes don't buy underwear, they will have to go commando. If I were a prisoner in the Polk County jail I would buy the undies even if they were on sale for $50 a pair. I wouldn't want to bring any unwanted attention from the many predators behind bars.
What's up with the gender-based discrimination? The female cons should also be forced to buy their own underwear. Prisoners have all the time in the world; I hope one of them files a lawsuit.
In these tough economic times municipalities must make cuts to balance the budget. Forcing inmates to buy their own drawers is a no-brainer, taxpayers aren't going to complain on the behalf of jailbirds.
