Mack Says "No" To Debt Ceiling Deal

WASHINGTON, July 15, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Florida Representative Connie Mack (FL-14) announced his intention to oppose the measure to raise the debt ceiling.

Mack stated: "This Congress should not go on record in favor of raising the debt ceiling until President Obama and Democrats in the Senate have a firm commitment and a specific plan to cut trillions of dollars in spending, balance our federal budget, and eliminate our national debt. The plan we are voting on Tuesday forces the President and the Senate to do none of those things. It's time for the Democratic leadership to reject their core belief that growing the size and scope of government is good. Barack Obama's attempt to scare our nation's seniors and members of the Armed Forces by threatening to withhold their pay and social security after August 2 is appalling. The President can choose to make those payments by cutting or defunding unnecessary and wasteful government programs that have been overwhelmingly rejected by the American people, like ObamaCare. Enough is enough."
