July 28: Award-winning Film From The Reel to Real Foundation to Premiere in San Diego
Local Businesses Get Behind Animal Rescue Documentary
The Accolade recognizes film, television, videography, and new media professionals who demonstrate exceptional achievement in craft and creativity, and those who produce standout entertainment or contribute to profound social change. Thomas Baker, Ph.D., who chairs The Accolade had this to say about the latest winners: "The Accolade is not an easy award to win. Entries are received from around the world. The Accolade helps set the standard for craft and creativity."
A number of local businesses will be participating in the premiere, which will also serve as the film's wrap party, by donating goods and services for a silent auction. Karl Strauss and Jimbo's Natural Grocery have donated beer, wine, and finger foods. The premiere will take place on Thursday, July 28, 2011, at the Queen Bees Art and Cultural Center in North Park.
SYNOPSIS - "The Business of Saving Lives" is about people going to extraordinary lengths to save the lives of companion animals by rescuing them from pounds and puppy mills and transporting them to no-kill shelters. The story follows three transports of dogs from desperate rescue situations in Arizona, Utah, and Mississippi to the Helen Woodward Animal Center in San Diego, Calif. Along the way, the film explores the good, the bad, and the ugly sides of a broken animal welfare system that leaves 5 million dead each year.
